Trailer for Coyote vs. Acme: Warner Bros. “Looney Tunes” film finally heads to cinemas years after cancellation

According to the CinemaDrame News Agency, a trailer for Coyote vs. Acme has been released, offering an early look at the hybrid live-action/animation film long delayed before its upcoming theatrical release on August 28.
Directed by Dave Green, the film follows Wile E. Coyote as he takes legal action against the Acme Corporation after its products repeatedly malfunction during his attempts to catch the Road Runner. Will Forte stars as Coyote’s attorney, while John Cena plays the opposing lawyer.
Written by Samy Burch, the screenplay is inspired by a 1990 New Yorker article imagining a lawsuit against Acme. The film blends courtroom comedy with the Looney Tunes universe, placing animated characters in a modern legal setting. It also features appearances from iconic characters such as Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, alongside other members of the franchise’s roster.
Originally developed for HBO Max, the film was produced on a reported $70 million budget. However, Warner Bros. halted its release in 2023 amid a broader shift in distribution strategy under CEO David Zaslav. The decision followed the shelving of other completed projects such as Batgirl and Scoob! Holiday Haunt, drawing significant industry attention due to the fact that the films were already finished.
In 2025, Ketchup Entertainment acquired the film for a reported $50 million and prepared it for a global theatrical release nearly three years after its original planned debut. Forte has said he remains proud of the finished film and hopes its unusual journey to release will ultimately help it reach a wider audience this summer.
